Apatite is a common mineral that often 'deceives' onlookers by mimicking the appearance of other stones. It is found in many geological environments, including igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. High concentrations of calcium and phosphate in the environment allow these crystals to form in a variety of vibrant colors. The Result: Brilliantly colored crystals (blue, green, yellow) that are often mistaken for beryl or fluorite.
