Geology · Formation
How it forms: Sedimentary or metamorphic calcium.
Blue Calcite is a soft, sky-blue calcium carbonate mineral that feels almost like a solidified piece of the sky. It forms in massive sedimentary deposits or metamorphic 'marble' environments. Calcium-rich fluids settle and crystallize, with trace impurities giving it a soft blue hue. The Result: Translucent, waxy chunks of pale blue stone with a soft, 'soapy' feel to the touch.
