Bustamite is a rare manganese calcium silicate mineral often associated with silver and lead ores. It forms through high-temperature metamorphism of manganese-rich sedimentary rocks. The heat from intruding magma 're-bakes' the sediments, allowing manganese and calcium to bond into a new mineral. The Result: Pinkish-brown to pale red prismatic crystals, often found in massive, sculptural formations.
