Cavansite is a stunning, bright-blue mineral that grows in delicate 'rosette' clusters on white matrix. It is found in the gas bubbles (amygdales) of volcanic basalt rocks. Trace amounts of Vanadium—a rare element—interact with silicate fluids to create the intense blue color. The Result: Vibrant, electric-blue crystal 'balls' or rosettes that sit atop pale, sparkly stilbite or apophyllite.
