About this stone

A tranquil blue-green stone of communication, empowerment, and teaching. Chrysocolla calms volatile emotions, encourages compassionate expression, and draws out negativity. It is particularly resonant with feminine energy.

Geology · Formation

How it forms: Secondary mineral from copper weathering.

Chrysocolla is a vivid blue-green copper silicate often found alongside Malachite and Azurite, but with a softer, more ethereal presence. It forms in the 'oxidation zones' of copper ore bodies, where copper-rich rocks are exposed to oxygenated groundwater. As a secondary mineral, it forms from the weathering of primary copper ores, leaching out and redepositing as a hydrated silicate. The Result: A soft, opaque, and often cryptocrystalline mass with swirling sea-and-sky patterns.
