About this stone

One of the oldest metals used by humans, Copper conducts spiritual energy, amplifies thoughts, and promotes circulation and joint health. It enhances the properties of other crystals and bridges physical and astral bodies.

Geology · Formation

How it forms: Hot, sulfur-depleted fluids.

Copper is a 'native element,' meaning it can be found in nature in its pure metallic form without being bonded to other elements. It forms from hot, mineral-rich hydrothermal fluids that are specifically depleted of sulfur. When these fluids flow through volcanic basalt or sedimentary cracks, the copper precipitates out into branching, root-like 'dendritic' shapes. The Result: A reddish-metallic metal that eventually develops a green 'patina' (rust) when exposed to air.
