How it forms: Hematite inclusions inside clear quartz.
Fire Quartz (or Hematoid Quartz) is clear quartz that has literally 'captured' a storm of iron within it. It forms in hydrothermal environments where quartz is crystallizing alongside iron minerals. Hematite or Limonite 'dust' or 'needles' are trapped inside the quartz as it grows. The Result: Shimmering red or orange streaks, spots, or 'veils' inside a transparent crystal.
