Geology · Formation

How it forms: Common mineral in igneous rocks.

Fluorapatite is the most common variety of Apatite and the primary source of phosphorus for the world. It forms in a vast range of environments, from granite pegmatites to deep marine sediments. High concentrations of Calcium, Phosphate, and Fluorine under the right temperature trigger the crystallization. The Result: Hard, glassy crystals that can be green, blue, purple, or colorless.
