How it forms: Sedimentary deposits in marine beds.
Green Calcite is a soft, waxy carbonate that forms in massive beds or veins. It forms in sedimentary basins or via hydrothermal fluids in calcium-rich rocks. Trace amounts of impurities (sometimes organic matter or iron) give it its soft, lime-green hue. The Result: Waxy, translucent pale green masses.
