Geology · Formation
How it forms: High lithium content in pegmatites.
Green Tourmaline (Verdelite) is the most common colored tourmaline, known for its deep 'forest' hues. It forms in lithium-rich granite pegmatites. Trace amounts of Iron (or occasionally Chromium) within the complex boron-silicate structure create the color. The Result: Long, prismatic crystals in every shade from pale mint to deep emerald-green.
