Hackmanite is a rare variety of Sodalite that possesses a 'superpower' called reversible photochromism. It forms in rare, alkaline-rich igneous rocks like syenites. The presence of sulfur within the sodalite structure allows it to change color. The Result: A stone that is pink or purple when first mined, but fades to white in the sun, only to 'glow' purple again under UV light.
