Geology · Formation
How it forms: Rare lithium pegmatite formation.
Hiddenite is the rare green variety of the mineral Spodumene, found primarily in North Carolina. It forms in lithium-rich granite pegmatites. Trace amounts of Chromium (the same element in Emerald) within the Spodumene lattice create the color. The Result: Transparent, prismatic crystals in pale to emerald green.
