How it forms: Hydrothermal vents in granite.
Imperial Topaz is the most valuable variety of Topaz, historically reserved for Russian royalty. It forms in high-temperature hydrothermal vents and granite pegmatites. The presence of Fluorine and Aluminum during the slow cooling of volcanic fluids results in hard, transparent crystals in shades of 'Sherry' orange, pink, and peach.
