How it forms: Manganese inclusions in beryl.
Morganite is the heart-centered pink variety of Beryl, named after J.P. Morgan. It forms in lithium-rich granite pegmatites. Trace amounts of Manganese (Mn2+) within the beryl crystal lattice create the pink color. The Result: Highly transparent crystals in shades of soft peach, rose-pink, and salmon.
