How it forms: Lithium and manganese inclusions.
Pink Tourmaline (Rubellite) is the heart-centered variety of the complex boron silicate. It forms in lithium-rich granite pegmatites. Inclusion of trace amounts of Manganese during the formation process creates the striated pink-to-red prismatic crystals.
