How it forms: Cavities of volcanic 'flood' basalts.
Prehnite is a pale green calcium-aluminum silicate often found growing alongside Epidote. It forms in the cavities of volcanic 'flood' basalts. Hydrothermal fluids crystallize into pale green, botryoidal (grape-like) clusters. The Result: A soft green, translucent stone that often contains 'needles' of black epidote.
