The stone of unconditional love gets its hue from an internal mineral 'mist.' It typically forms in pegmatites—the final, water-rich part of a cooling magma body where crystals grow large. Its pink hue comes from microscopic, hair-like fibers of a mineral similar to dumortierite suspended within the quartz lattice. The Result: A soft pink, milky appearance.
