How it forms: Rutile 'needles' inside quartz.
Rutile Quartz is clear quartz that has grown around needles of titanium oxide. It forms in hydrothermal veins where quartz is crystallizing alongside titanium minerals. Needles of Rutile (TiO2) are 'captured' inside the quartz crystal as it grows. The Result: Clear quartz filled with golden, silver, or copper 'wires.'
