How it forms: High-heat metamorphic/igneous growth.
Sapphire is the 'wisdom stone'—the blue or multi-colored variety of Corundum. It forms in high-heat metamorphic or igneous environments. Inclusion of trace amounts of Iron and Titanium into the Corundum lattice during formation results in highly transparent crystals.
