Shungite is a rare, carbon-rich mineraloid over 2 billion years old. It is found almost exclusively in the Karelia region of Russia, formed from ancient lagoons. Prehistoric algae and organic matter settled into mud, which was subjected to heat and pressure over eons. The Result: A jet-black stone that is 98% carbon.
