Geology · Formation
How it forms: Crystallizes from sodium-rich magmas.
Sodalite is a sodium-rich mineral often mistaken for Lapis Lazuli. It crystallizes from silica-poor magmas, specifically in alkaline igneous rocks like syenites. High concentrations of Sodium and Chlorine in the cooling magma chamber create a rich, royal blue stone often featuring white veins of Calcite.
