Geology · Formation
How it forms: Trace minerals in slow-moving water.
Blue Lace Agate is a delicate, banded variety of chalcedony with intricate, lace-like patterns. It forms in volcanic cavities from silica-rich fluids that deposit layers with high rhythmic precision. Very slow and stable mineralization allows for incredibly thin, alternating blue and white bands. The Result: A soft blue stone with concentric, parallel, or wavy white 'lace' bands.
