Botswana Agate is a volcanic gemstone prized for its incredibly fine, detailed 'eye' and 'fortification' banding. It formed in ancient volcanic flows in Botswana, Africa, roughly 187 million years ago. Silica-saturated groundwater filled the lava bubbles, depositing minerals in extremely thin, rhythmic layers. The Result: Stunning grey, pink, and apricot-colored bands that often form 'eye' patterns in the center of the nodule.
