About this stone
Luminous with an ethereal glow called adularescence, Moonstone is deeply connected to lunar cycles and feminine energy. It enhances intuition, promotes emotional balance, and inspires new beginnings.
Geology · Formation
How it forms: Slow cooling; separation of minerals.
The 'glow' of moonstone (adularescence) isn't a pigment; it’s a trick of light caused by mineral divorce. It forms deep in the crust as a hot, uniform mixture of two feldspars. As the magma cools slowly, the two minerals can no longer stay mixed. They 'unmix' (exsolve) into thin, alternating microscopic layers. The Result: When light hits these layers, it scatters and bounces between them, creating a ghostly blue shimmer.
