How it forms: Hydrothermal alteration of granite.
Unakite is an altered variety of granite, representing a perfect geological marriage. It forms when hydrothermal fluids flow through granite in the Earth's crust. A process of hydrothermal alteration replaces the original mica in the granite with Green Epidote. The Result: A stone composed of pink Feldspar, green Epidote, and clear Quartz.
