Geology · Formation
How it forms: Secondary mineral in lead-moly zones.
Wulfenite is a lead molybdate mineral that grows in incredibly thin, vibrant 'window pane' crystals. It forms as a secondary mineral in the oxidation zones of lead and molybdenum deposits. Weathering of ores in an environment rich in molybdenum results in bright orange or yellow tabular crystals.
